Le principal pays repris et concerné était le Benin et de nombreux pays en Europe étaient et sont encore inondés par ce genre d'annonces. En France, les annonces "tournent" sur de nombreux sites (Kijiji, Viastreet, Marche.fr...). Les "vendeurs" donnent un lieu de résidence en France car il s'agit d'un critère obligatoire.
Voyant que le système commence à être connu, les escrocs, dorénavant, baissent leurs tarifs ou bien ne demandent plus que les frais de transports ou encore de prétendus droits de douane pour le passage à la frontière. Il faut néanmoins demeurer prudent car certains acheteurs en Europe se voient aussi donner des rendez-vous pour remettre l'argent, au cours desquels, ils sont volés et agressés.
